Somerset where here lies at the foot of the mendip hills is Wells, the smallest city in England compact with its medieval history.
Where the captivating reclaimed cobbled back streets still remain. The endless row of cottage terraces of southover, where over a century many Loxton familys found residence. The high street being the hub of the community, where Frederick
Loxton was in retail and residence producing hand made cabinets in the late 1800's.
...SO here the journey begins within the beautiful city of Wells, to the
ongoing illegitimate children born,to my great grandad William Robert Loxton the
alleged fugitive on the run to whom suddenly pulled up his family roots and absconded
in 1915 and to have travelled some 300miles up to yorkshire on a horse and cart ,to
have found lodgings in Foulby, Sharlston.
Before finding their own dwellings in the back street slums of St johns
terrace in Normanton,Westyorkshire.
Has the Loxton boys grew up they also worked within the coalmines and often
did bare knuckle fighting within St Johns.
St johns was knocked down alot of years ago although the club still remains.
The Loxton familys in Yorkshire today have spread out within west yorkshire and
overseas, some remain in Normanton others can be found in the village of Sharlston
others in Flanshaw, Altofs and many more areas such as myself who lives in
the village of Crofton.
